Moossa C Kandy started his engineering career in 1976 as a research associate in the Broadcast & Communication Engineering Group of CDAC, Thiruvananthapuram (formerly known as Electronics Research & Development Centre). He was involved in the indigenous development of CCTV cameras, monitors and switching equipment.

In 1984, he moved to set up the mass communication division of the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (Keltron) for the manufacture of various satellites & broadcast communication products. He was involved in the manufacture and supply of satellite receivers like radio networking terminals, announcer & switching consoles for All India Radio, TVROs for Doordarshan, and 2/15 shared radio for BSNL, etc. That was when the Indian broadcast industry migrated from a microwave-based communication system to satellite-based communication system with the support of the INSAT- series satellites launched by ISRO.

From 1996 onwards, he worked with Keltron’s corporate planning department, the team that revived the company by consolidating as well as diversifying its operations. During this period he prepared a detailed project report for Keltron’s tool-room-cum-training-centre that came up as KELTRAC at the Keltron Controls Campus at Aroor, Cochin. He has also headed the Materials Division of Keltron’s IT Business Group, and contributed to computerization projects of Kerala’s higher secondary schools, taluk offices and sub-treasuries.

In April 2004, he quit Keltron to become the head of the contract manufacturing operations of the newly set up Indian branch of the US-based company, Degree Controls, Inc. in Thiruvananthapuram. From 2004-2008, he managed Degree Control’s contract manufacturing operations in the Cochin Export Processing Zone. In 2008, he was elevated to the post of General Manager & Head of India Operations of the company. In his present capacity, he is heading a team of electronics engineers who are developing products for the US-based company to supply to global markets.

He is one of the founder trustees & chief co-ordinator of TechTop Charitable Trust. Mr Kandy has a Bachelors’ Degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from Kerala University, and a Masters in Management from IGNOU with specialization in Finance, Technology Management & International Business.
